Empty Bottles

What to do with your empty NEAT Tasting bottles.

“We drank all the whiskey, so do you want me to wash out the bottles and give them back to you?” my mom asked after her second blind tasting. It’s a valid question. After you’ve enjoyed the whiskey from the blind tasting, you’re left with a few empty 2 oz bottles that you’re not sure what to do with. Instead of tossing them out, I highly recommend using them to share some whiskey with your friends!

All you need is whiskey that you enjoy and a pour spout. If you don’t have a pour spout, a little funnel will do (and if you don't have a funnel, you can easily make one out of a plastic cup).

First, give the bottles a good rinse making sure they don't smell like the whiskey that was previously in them, and let them air dry. Then fill them up with any whiskey you’d like! Label the bottle with a sharpie or piece of tape, and voula! You have a fun “I wanted to share this with you” gift for a friend. Or you can schedule a virtual drink with your friends where you all get to enjoy the same whiskey without everyone having to go out and buy a full bottle for themselves. If the friends you’re sharing whiskey with are not fans of drinking whiskey neat, most cocktail recipes call for 2 oz of whiskey. You could use the whiskey to have a virtual cocktail together.

And if you don’t have any whiskey at home to share, this can be a great time to exercise your newly gained whiskey knowledge by buying a new bottle at the grocery or liquor store!
