Blind Tasting No. 10

Very Sherry

Aging whisky in sherry butts is a nice way to add some subtle sweet, spicy and decadent notes to the flavor profile. It’s a common practice that Scotch whisky makers use. But there isn’t just one type of sherry, meaning different sherry butts will have different impacts on the whisky. During this tasting, we’ll get to experience that first hand. We’ll taste through a Highland single malt whisky that’s been matured for 12 years in Fino, Manzanilla, Oloroso and Pedro Ximenez barrels. This will allow us to directly compare the flavors coming from each sherry butt. Remember, this tasting is blind, so the bottles will only be labeled BB, CC, DD and EE. It’s up to your palate to identify the whiskies.
